5 players to look out as 3x3 Women's Series returns in Wuhan

WUHAN (China) - The FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series starts tomorrow and the excitement is palpable. Tipping things off in Wuhan this weekend.

Here are the stars that are sure to make the event a must-see.

 Sonja Greinacher (Germany)

You want versatility? Look no further than Sonja Greinacher. The 6ft. 3in (1.90m) superstar has ruled over the 3x3 scene for the past few seasons with her paint presence and masterful footwork.

Winning the 2021 Women’s Series with Germany and picking up Finals MVP, teams will once again try and figure out how they can stop the German sensation from catching fire.

Few players can get to their spots offensively and dominate on the defensive end, Greinacher shines in both and then some! No doubt she’ll be putting on a show once again this year.

Lili Wang (China)

One word - Electric.

Leading China to their first-ever Asia title with the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup in 2022, fans know just what to expect when Wang gets dialed in.

The 5ft. 9in. (1.75m) guard is unstoppable, getting to the paint at will. She ain’t afraid to shoot 2s either. Her offensive skill set has led China to multiple accolades, including a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The star is gonna bring it in China. Question is, can anyone stop her?

Alina-Maria Podar (Romania)

Need a bucket? Call Alina-Maria Podar. The 24-year old has made waves in the 3x3 world with her ability to get to the rim and catch fire from beyond the arc.

Podar has represented ‘23’ well with Romania growing into a force to reckon heading into the Women’s Series.

The 5ft. 7in. (1.70m) guard is fearless, and heads will turn when she takes to the court in China.

Nana Santa (Japan)

If speed kills, Nana Santa is a straight-up assassin.

For those that have seen the 5ft. 10in. (1.79m) guard ball out at the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2023, her lightning-quick first step to the rim won’t come as a surprise, but add her ability to get huge rebounds and second-chance points, look out!

Japan are going to be a problem in the Women’s Series, and the 20-year old Santa will put the 3x3 world on notice.

Khulan Onolbaatar (Mongolia)

Leading your country at the Olympics is no small feat, but Khulan Onolbaatar took no time in marking her presence in the 3x3 world.

The 5ft. 11in. (1.80m) star has got it all, running the game like a seasoned vet at the age of 23. The ultimate playmaker for her team, no one can figure out how to stop Mongolia when she draws the strings. She can catch fire from anywhere on the court as well. That’s a dangerous combo right there.

Lauren Mansfield (Australia)

Talking about strings, no one has got it down on lock like Lauren Mansfield.

The 5ft. 7in. (1.70m) guard, while new to the 3x3 scene, is no stranger to controlling the show. The Gangurrus won the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2023 and are coming into the Women’s Series riding the wave.

Winning is an art form, and Mansfield knows just how to move the brush.
