Bucharest to host FIBA 3x3 Women's Series and U23 Nations League finals

BUCHAREST (Romania) - Bucharest will be the capital of 3x3 from September 17 to 19, 2021, as it will play host to both the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series and the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League finals.

The 3x3 extravaganza will start on September 17-18 with the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League final.

The Nations League is a FIBA 3x3 national team competition for men and women under the age of 23 launched in 2017. 2021 marks the 4th edition. It offers an opportunity for future talents to hone their skills in preparation for the open category (FIBA 3x3 World Cup, Olympic Games, etc.). A record 28 teams compete in five different conferences this season. The winners of each conference, the two best teams in the tour standings (not yet qualified and combining all conferences) and the Romanian hosts will participate in the Bucharest final. Russia's women and France's men won the last edition in Budapest, Hungary in 2019.

The 3x3 action will reach its climax on September 18-19 with the final of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series, the 3x3 professional circuit for women. The top seven teams in the season standings after the Montreal stop will join the Romanian hosts for a chance to win prize money and the second-ever edition of the Women's Series. France won in 2019. Significant change this year: the winners of the final will take home the trophy (as opposed to the best team in the season standings last year), which should bring even more drama to the event,
